Guwahati + Meghalaya

Day 1: Guwahati

  • Arrival at Guwahati airport, meet and greet and will proceed to the hotel for check in. Later explore the city by visiting the longest ropeway over the mighty Brahmaputra OR enjoy the sunset cruise over the mighty Brahmaputra OR go for souvenir shopping of famous Assam Silk Sarees/Tea/Handicrafts. Overnight at Guwahati.

    Guwahati city is the GATEWAY to the SEVEN SISTER STATES. It is the land of temples prominently being the Shaktipith –The Maa Kamakhya. The mighty Brahmaputra passes through this city and it has gifted the smallest inhabited river island – the Umananda (the peacock island).

Day 2: Temple darshan and to Shillong (3 hours)

  • Early morning go for the darshan of the Shaktipeeth Maa Kamakhya temple.
    After breakfast drive to Shillong .Visit the Umiam Lake. sEvening at leisure. Overnight in Shillong.

    Tucked away in the hills of eastern sub-Himalayas is Meghalaya, one of the most beautiful State in the country.

Day 3: local sightseeing

  • After breakfast drive around Shillong at disposal of tourists. Can visit Cathedral of Mary Church, Lady Hyadri Park, Wards Lake, Don Bosco museum. Afternoon visit the Grand Canyon of the East – The Laitlum Canyon. Evening visit the Police Bazar for shopping and some souvenir. Overnight in Shillong.

Day 4: explore Cherrapunjee

  • After breakfast you will be travelling to Cherrapunjee (60 kms/ approx 1 and half hrs. one way) – the wettest place on the earth. En route visit Elephant falls and Mawphlang Sacred Forest. At Cherrapunjee visit – Mawsmai Cave, Nohkalikai Falls. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Cherrapunjee.

Day 5: Explore Cherrapunjee

  • After breakfast visit the Seven Sister Waterfalls, Dainthlen Waterfalls, Arwah Caves, Garden of Caves and Eco Park. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Cherrapunjee.

  • Living root bridge trek – double decker
    After breakfast the vehicle will drop you at the parking for the trek. It’s a beautiful and long trek (3500 steps one way). Taking a guide is recommended. Reach the living root bridge, brief halt for photos and trek down to the majestic rainbow falls , where you can swim in the natural pool .Afternoon start your climb back to the parking area. Evening at leisure.Overnight at Cherrapunjee.

Day 6: Cherrapunjee – Mawlyynong – Dawki

  • After breakfast drive to Mawlynnong and explore the cleanest village of India. From the bamboo machaan one can see the plains of Bangladesh. Near Mawlyynong there is Riwai village, where you can go for the trek of Single Living Root Bridge. It is a 53 ft long bridge. Locally known as ‘Jingkieng Deingjri’ which means ‘bridge of the rubber tree,’ this bridge is remarkable in that it is more than a 100 years old. Then drive to Dawki (India – Bangladesh Border) to see Umngot or Dawki River. Here you can go for many adventure sports and also boating in the crystal clear water of the lake. Overnight at Dawki.

Day 7: Krangsuri (Jowai) and Nartang monoliths- Shillong

  • In the morning go for adventure water sports in the Umngot River. Later drive to Jaintia Hills. Upon reaching, followed by a 10 minutes trek we will first visit Krangsuri Falls which drop down from a low level into a basin like depression. If you know swimming you can swim in the pool which is an awesome experience but before diving into the pool hire a guide, wear a life jacket and be aware about non-swimming areas. (If you still wishes to visit another majestic waterfall head to Phe Phe Waterfall- optional). After your lunch you will head towards the attractive Nartiang Village, covering a distance around 1.5 Kms from Krangsuri Falls, which is known for its numerous Nartiang Monoliths. Here you can spend some time sightseeing, clicking pictures and experiencing each spot and specially giving full time in exploring the garden of rocks. Later visit the famous Durga Temple where you will learn about the 51 Shakti Peethas of Hindu Mythology and it is said that, once humans were used to be sacrificed during Durga festival. Overnight at Shillong.

Day 8: —Shillong – Guwahati (3 hours)

  • After breakfast drive down to Guwahati. On route visit the Umiam Lake (if missed previously). Reach Guwahati and visit the Assam silk shop (7 Weaves). Later drop at the airport for your onward journey.

    The trip concludes with some wonderful memories of the region.
